What places would you recommend traveling to in America to our community?

We all know NYC, LA, Chicago and DC. Great places and world renowned for good reason. But America is a huge country with a vast and varied landscape. There are amazing cities and natural wonders that are not as popular as the mainstream tourist locations, but offer experiences that (in my opinion) exceed those of the popular locations. Example: Zion National Park in Utah. Probably one the most amazing places on Earth! Or the Outer Banks of North Carolina – miles of unspoiled beach and solitude matched with American southern fishing culture and charm. So, give your reccomendations on where to travel and what to see!

  1. I would recommend visiting Boone NC.  Take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway or go for a hike on one of the many trials. Visit downtown Boone for great food, shops, and art.

If you want to spend a couple of hours around DC area and find a place to take some good pictures, Alexandria, VA would be a good choice.  It’s got so much history and being there feels like traveling back in time: many buildings were built in eighteenth century with brick sidewalks. In its business areas, there are a lot of unique shops, you will definitely find something you like at reasonable prices.

Especially Old Town! Plus you have the National Harbor and even MGM across the Potomac….
  • Joss
And my favorite part – Torpedo Factory Art Center, it’s a great place to browse and view different types of art and talk with the artists in person!

I have to strongly suggest Zion National Park in Utah. I traveled there Oct. 2016. I flew into Las Vegas, rented a car, and drove 3 hours north to Zion and stayed, literally, in hotel in a canyon.

Zion National Park

Zion is the opposite of the Grand Canyon – you are at the bottom of a canyon and have to hike up! This makes it really unique looking up at sheer cliffs rising thousands of feet. Hike UP a river with canyons on both sides of you, you can literally spread you arms and touch both sides of the canyon. The Narrows. Or, risk your life and hike Angels Landing. Are you brave enough…….

Utah is an interesting place, amazing geologic formations and natural wonders. You can go hiking in shorts and a t-shirt in the south, then travel north and ski in the snow capped mountains.

New England is also beautiful, especially in late September and early October.  The leaves are vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow.  Include a visit to Boston where there is a feel for the early history of the United States.  Also there are amazing seafood restaurants.
